James D. Julia Auctioneers Receive Special Business Excellence Award

James D. Julia Auctioneers Receive Special Business Excellence Award

From The Governor of the State of Maine

At a formal ceremony on Monday May 14th, Governor Paul LePage presented James D. Julia Auctioneers of Fairfield, Maine with the 2012 Governor’s award for Business Excellence.  This was the 22nd annual awards which are administered by the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development and sponsored by Fair Point Communications.  The award recognizes Maine companies that demonstrate a high level of commitment to the community, employees, and to manufacturing or to service excellence.  Only six Maine companies received this award this year, and as per Governor LePage, “This year’s honorees represent businesses that are regional, national, and International leaders in their fields”.  Governor LePage came into office with a promise to focus on expanding job bases in Maine.  His approach is to minimize cumbersome regulations and to encourage business development in general throughout the state.  As such, the awards and what they represent were very much a part of LePage’s philosophy for the State of Maine.

ONE OF THE RAREST COINS IN AMERICAN HISTORY, AN 1870-S $3 GOLD PIECE, MAY FETCH $2-$4 MILLION AT FOUR SEASONS AUCTION GALLERY ON JUNE 2

The coin, one of only two known, could be the legendary example from the Mint’s cornerstone.

(ALPHARETTA, Ga.) – One of the rarest coins in American history – the legendary 1870-S $3 gold piece, only two of which are known to exist – will come up for bid on Saturday, June 2, at Four Seasons Auction Gallery, where it is expected to bring a dizzying $2-$4 million. The auction will be held at Four Seasons’ spacious gallery in Alpharetta, just north of Atlanta.

The 1870-S $3 gold coin is so steeped in legend and lore that the only other known example – valued in 2007 at $4 million and part of the Harry W. Bass Collection, on display at the American Numismatic Association museum in Colorado Springs, Colorado – was believed by many to be the only one in existence, despite reports and documents that suggested otherwise.

Rare Wax Figures at Appletree Auction Center

One of a kind - Albert Einstein wax figure and 70 others to sell at Auction in Ohio

May 19th 2012 11:00 AM EST.

This rarity was commissioned by Einstein to be created by Katherine Stubergh (the legendary wax sculptress of the stars) shortly after he came to America.  This amazing work was done as a “Live Blast” which means that Mr. Einstein actually sat with Stubergh in her studio as she took a mold casting off of his face and created his likeness!  This is the only one known to exist! This once in a lifetime former wax museum collection includes 63 other works by Stubergh including Jean Harlow, Charlie Chaplin, Walt Disney and even a 13 piece full scale rendering of The Last Supper!  This story is the perfect combination of the bygone era of Hollywood legends, roadside American attractions and the excitement of auction!
